Atop Mt. Kilimanjaro on a freezing morning, looking at the spectacular view of Mount Meru and the grand Rebmann Glacier.
Just a few hundred meters from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, we were treated to an incredible view of the Rebmann Glacier and Mount Meru, as the sun gradually lit up the sky in stunning hues of yellow and red. Over the years, I’ve often admired Mount Kilimanjaro from the window of a plane while flying to the Kenyan coast, but finally standing at the top was an immensely rewarding experience. On this particular morning, with the weather absolutely perfect, the moment felt even more special.
Mount Kilimanjaro after a night with an intense snow storm
During the night, a snow storm swept through at higher altitudes, and when we stepped out of our tents early the next morning, we were greeted by a inspiring transformation. The mountain was now blanketed in pristine white snow, stretching all the way across the alpine range. It was a stunning sight, glistening beautifully in the morning sun.
Queen’s Cave Waterfall in the Aberdares
Queen’s Cave Waterfall in the Aberdares holds a special historical significance, as Queen Elizabeth II visited the site in 1953 while she was still Princess Elizabeth. The cave was formed through retrograde erosion, where the river carved away a layer of soft volcanic tufa at the base of the Magura Waterfall. Visitors can walk inside the cave on the right-hand side, offering a unique view of this stunning natural feature. The waterfall itself is both spectacular and picturesque, making it a must-see destination.
Beautiful coral reefs at Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park Kenya
Just off the coast of Wasini Island, near the Tanzanian border, lies the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park. To reach this stunning destination, you’ll need to arrange a trip with one of the many traditional dhows in Shimoni town. The journey takes about two hours if your boat is slow, but along the way, you might be lucky enough to spot dolphins.
Be mindful that once you leave the harbor, the large, rolling waves of the Indian Ocean can cause seasickness if you’re not accustomed to open water. However, upon reaching the Marine Park, a fascinating underwater world awaits. Dive just a few meters below the surface to experience its vibrant marine life and coral reefs.

Tsavo West is a fascinating park that offers awe-inspiring vistas, dotted with rugged mountains, volcanic deserts and towering hills. Its pristine springs and waterholes attract a diverse array of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, giraffes, leopards, and a variety of gazelles and other species. From the top of one of the many small mountains in the Great Rift Valley, we gaze down into a steep, dramatic ravine. Stretching out to the horizon, miles of arid semi-desert terrain unfold, leading to the unique ecosystem surrounding Lake Magadi. The view is nothing short of enthralling—a truly inspiring vista.
Life and death on the Mara river
Sometimes life is both cruel and unforgiving. This juvenile wildebeest calf was tragically unlucky, falling prey to one of the massive crocodiles that inhabit the Mara River. The calf’s desperate cries echoed across the water until the crocodile clamped its powerful jaws around its head, silencing it abruptly. With its meal secured, the predator vanished beneath the waterline, leaving only ripples in its wake.
Beautiful and agile hunter
I can’t help but admire the cheetah—such a beautiful, agile, and graceful creature. Built for speed and agility, it is perfectly adapted to hunt the fastest and most elusive prey on the open African grasslands. Its long tail acts as a stabilizer, enabling sharp turns at full speed during intense chases. With powerful legs and a flexible spine, the cheetah can achieves mind-bending velocity, making it a true marvel of the savanna.
Naivasha’s Crescent Island walking safari
