Early morning at the south coast, close to the reef two women collecting sea urchins in the swallow waters. As the sun starts to peek over the horizon, the women make their way down to the beach. The tide is low and the sea urchins are easy to find. The women carefully search through the swallow waters for their next meal.
Sea urchins are a common food source on the south coast of Kenya. They can be found at low tide, and the early morning hours are the best time to collect them. The waters are calm and there is less chance of being stung by a jellyfish.

The women use small buckets to collect the urchins. They work quickly, as they know that high tide will soon arrive. In a few hours, they will have enough urchins to sell at the market or use for dinner.

Immature Dark Chanting Goshawk

Not 100 percent sure due to the dark shadows but it looks like a Immature Dark Chanting Goshawk sittings perched high near the Shore side of Lake Nakuru. The Chanting Goshawk is a medium-sized raptor found in open woodlands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. It is named for its characteristic call, a series of high-pitched notes that sound like someone chanting “goshawk.” This goshawk is reddish brown above and barred below, with a black tail. It is the most common goshawk in Africa, and can be seen perched atop trees or soaring overhead. The Chanting Goshawk feeds on small mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects.

There is plenty of small fish and other critters that the Pelican can feed on in the mineral rich waters of Lake Magadi. Lake Magadi is a soda lake located in Kenya, close to the Tanzanian border. The lake is fed by hot springs and its mineral-rich waters make it a popular destination for flamingos and pelicans. The arid climate and hot temperatures make the lake a harsh environment, but also create ideal conditions for breeding pelicans.

The sun has just kissed the horizon and the local fishermen are heading out while the tide is up. The sun has just risen, but the fishermen are already hard at work. They manoeuvre their small felucca around the rough waves, using bamboo poles to guide the boat. The job is dangerous, but it provides a modest income for these families. The boats are made of mango wood, and are very fragile. If they were to capsize, the fishermen would be in serious danger. Thankfully, the early morning hours are usually calm and peaceful.

The lone acacia tree stood sentinel on the savanna, its silhouette stark against the bruised purple sky. The air, thick with the scent of parched earth and impending rain, crackled with anticipation. A hot wind whipped through the tall grasses, their whispers the only sound in the vast emptiness.

Suddenly, a jagged bolt of lightning tore through the heavens, illuminating the gathering storm clouds. Thunder boomed, a deep, resonant growl that echoed across the plains. Fat raindrops began to fall, each one exploding against the dry earth like a tiny drumbeat.

The Masai Mara, moments before a haven of golden tranquility, was now a churning sea of red-brown water. The acacia, its roots anchored deep in the African soil, bowed its head to the onslaught. Across the plains, animals scattered, seeking refuge from the deluge. Zebras thundered across the grasslands, their stripes a blur against the grey landscape, while giraffes loped with surprising speed towards distant trees.

Then, as quickly as it began, the storm passed. The clouds parted, revealing a sky washed clean. Sunlight streamed through the gaps, casting rainbows across the glistening savanna. The acacia, its leaves shimmering with raindrops, stood tall once more, a testament to its resilience.

A elephant herd in the tall grass of the Masai Mara. Most of the time elephant herds will be moving sideways or away from you but today we are lucky and they’re coming right toward us. The elephant herd was slowly moving toward us, their movement muffled by the tall grass. There were babies and young ones, along with a few large matriarchs. It was an amazing sight, and one I’ll never forget. I felt so lucky to be able to witness such a beautiful moment in nature.

Despite the dangers, the herd moves on, knowing that they cannot survive unless they cross.

The Rhino Charge is the main contributor to the fence building around Kenya’s water towers thereby protecting critical habitat and water supplies for generations to come. Rhino chargers drive their vehicles through tough terrain in order to raise money for charity. The event takes place every year in June, and it raises millions for conservation projects around Kenya. The Aberdares mountain range is located in central Kenya and is part of the Eastern Rift Valley. The Aberdares mountain range is made up of a series of forested hills and highlands that rise to an altitude of 4,000 meters. The Aberdare National Park is located in the foothills of the Aberdares mountain range and is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, and rhinos. The Aberdare mountain range receives plenty of rainfall and has many swamps and bogs. The climate is unpredictable and can change quickly from sunny skies to rainstorms.
