Total chaos on the river edge
Large herd of Wildebeests running in total chaos on the river edge just when the sun is setting. The upheaval was probably prompted by some lions in the vicinity.
Peering down at Lake Michaelson from the towering cliffs surrounding it
Mount Kenya’s weather showcased its unpredictable nature as we descended toward the nearby Lake Michaelson. The morning sun, which had briefly warmed our bodies, slipped behind some dark clouds, leaving us cold and wet on the rugged mountain.
The ever-changing scenery of the landscape added an air of adventure to our descent. One moment, the trail ahead gleamed under brilliant sunlight, illuminating the rugged terrain and casting sharp shadows on mountain. The next, a dense mist rolled in, obscuring our view and wrapping us in a cold embrace.
Undeterred by the shifting weather, we pressed on, each step drawing us closer to the shores of Lake Michaelson. Just as we approached, the clouds parted briefly, revealing the lake’s waters mirroring the jagged peaks and cliffs that surrounded it.
This fleeting glimpse of Lake Michaelson’s beauty, set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kenya’s, was a validation to the mountain’s enduring magic.
A lion turned into a really fat cat
This lion is visibly bloated after devouring a significant portion of the baby elephant the pride brought down. Its stomach is grotesquely extended, rendering it immobile and labored in its breathing as it struggles to digest the enormous meal. This temporary state of gluttony highlights the feast-or-famine reality of life in the wild.
Three Thomson’s gazelle
Overlooking the burnt grass plains of the Mara, three Thomson’s Gazelle are nipping away on the green sprouts on the ground
Heron and breakwaters
A heron stands poised on the breakwaters, its silhouette stark against the backdrop of crashing waves. White foam and spray dance in the air as waves crash against the coral, creating the familiar of sound of the sea. The heron, a patient hunter, scans the tide pools for small crabs and fish seeking refuge in the coral’s crevices. The scene is a image of the smooth white sand, seaweed, the jagged coral, and the blue of the ocean.
