Peering down at Lake Michaelson from the towering cliffs surrounding it
Mount Kenya’s weather showcased its unpredictable nature as we descended toward the nearby Lake Michaelson. The morning sun, which had briefly warmed our bodies, slipped behind some dark clouds, leaving us cold and wet on the rugged mountain.
The ever-changing scenery of the landscape added an air of adventure to our descent. One moment, the trail ahead gleamed under brilliant sunlight, illuminating the rugged terrain and casting sharp shadows on mountain. The next, a dense mist rolled in, obscuring our view and wrapping us in a cold embrace.
Undeterred by the shifting weather, we pressed on, each step drawing us closer to the shores of Lake Michaelson. Just as we approached, the clouds parted briefly, revealing the lake’s waters mirroring the jagged peaks and cliffs that surrounded it.
This fleeting glimpse of Lake Michaelson’s beauty, set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kenya’s, was a validation to the mountain’s enduring magic.
