It is early morning, and a hippo rests peacefully on a sandy riverbank in the Mara river. The sun has just risen above the horizon, casting a warm yellow glow that reflects on the water. A delicate haze lingers over the river, like a soft blanket of light smoke, adding a tranquil, almost dreamlike quality to the scene.

The Ewaso Ng’iro shows the calm and tranquil personalty during the dry season. The river can look quite different when the rainy season feeds the river with massive amount of water and it sweeps everything away. Some doum palms is also visible in the picture.
