Early morning in Masai Mara and Hyena mother with the young offspring in the back-light from the strong sun.
Two zebras fighting for their life in the white water of the Mara river. Only the ears are sticking up and still far to go. In Africa, two zebras are fighting for their life as they swim across a river filled with crocodiles. The water is swift and the danger is real. The zebras must make it to the other side or they will be dinner for the hungry reptiles.
The zebras are swimming hard, but they are being pushed farther and farther downstream. The crocodiles are closing in on them, and it seems only a matter of time before they are attacked.
But then, miraculously, the zebras make it to safety on the other side of the river. They have escaped death by crocodile, but they are exhausted from their ordeal. They will need to rest before continuing their journey.
Marabou stork with a background of the sun reflecting the warm afternoon light in the Mara river.
Zebras charging out in to the Mara River to cross to greener pastures. Water splashing everywhere as the animals approach the deeper part of the river.
A vulture picking flesh of a drowned Wildebeest laying dead in the swallow water near some rocks.
Water splashing everywhere as the zebras run the last stretch to the river bank after the crossing.
Mock fight between two warthogs, they are really going at it and it turns quite violent at times. Warthogs are fast and agile, have huge sharp teeth and a powerful bite. When nested in their dugout with only the head sticking out it will only be the bravest of predators that will try to attack.
The annual migration in the Masai Mara where thousands of Wildebeests and Zebras are crossing the Mara river. Can be very spectacular if the river is having plenty of water and strong current. On this day sadly the river was very calm.
Two giraffes walking on the savanna in Masai Mara. The escarpment is seen in the background.
Wildebeest jumping out in front of the car, a very nervous animal.
Three huge and healthy Marabou storks sitting near the Mara river observing the dead carcasses of drowned Wildebeests in the river below.
Cheetah mother have just killed a Grant’s Gazelle for her puppies and has now finished her hunger. Sitting looking out over the plains with blood on the nose.
A vulture nest looks pretty much like a pile small branches on top of a tree. Not the most esthetical or pretty, but probably fits the needs for a pair of vultures.
Dramatic hole in the clouds over the Masai Mara Game Reserve
Two very healthy looking Water bucks standing near the swamp that surround Governors Camp in the Masai Mara.
