A large column of Wildebeest on the open savanna

A large column of Wildebeest grazing on the savanna on a warm sunny day. A savanna is characterized by mixed woodland-grassland ecosystem that is typified by trees that are widely enough apart to prevent the canopy from closing. An uninterrupted herbaceous layer made up mostly of grasses is supported by the open canopy, which lets enough light reach the ground. In Maasai Mara there is very few trees on the large grass plains.
