They are a pastoral people who herd cattle and live in Kenya’s Rift Valley. Masai society is matrilineal, with the women owning the livestock and land. The men are responsible for herding the cattle and providing security for the community. The Nguruman Masai are known for their vibrant red robes and elaborate jewellery. They are a friendly and hospitable people, who are always willing to share their food and drink with visitors.
